Mary Martin performing in Hello Dolly! in the International tour that eventually landed in London. 1965.

While touring Hello Dolly! in japan, Mary Martin prepared this special Japanese version of Hello Dolly! to sing for the audience at the end of the show.

I’m sure for those who follow my blog, it’s obvious how much I adore this woman! The level of charm, warmth and charisma she possesses is unrivaled. It’s no coincidence she’s so associated with Peter Pan, shes more magical than he is!

All of this footage from Dolly is from an NBC documentary called Around The World With Mary Martin, documenting her international tour of Hello Dolly! She Toured most of the United States, Canada, Japan, Vietnam ( in a truncated version for the troops ) and finally London, where she headed the original London cast. I’m pretty sure that all the performance footage, including this Japanese Hello Dolly, was recorded in London for this special in 1965, and inserted into the documentary.
