in 1959, while The Sound of Music was in pre-production, Mary Martin made time for a nation wide tour and subsequent Television Special. Magic with Mary Martin was tailored for Children and was performed during the afternoon on each stop, and Music With Mary Martin for an “adult” audiences, was performed in the evening. Magic with Mary Martin, included a condensed one-woman-version of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, with Mary as Cinderella, Prince Charming, the Fairy Godmother AND the Narrator. In this photo, Mary preforms In My Own Little Corner, by the fireplace, dressed as Cinderella.
